Daffyd, to be fair you asked for examples of a war Stalin started, whatever his reasons were are irrelevant. The Finnish weren't going to be consoled by the fact that Stalin was fighting in self defensive against a third party.

This thread proves that Stalin can in no way be compared to megalomaniacs and warmongers like Hitler, Mussolini, Churchill, Asquith and Wilson, never mind Kennedy, Blair, Bush and Clinton.

Except, of course, to show (yet again, should that be necessary) that of all the monsters of the 20th C Stalin deserves the title of the worst, most paranoid and most dangerous. To compare him favourably with Asquith (or Wilson) is bizarre and peverse.

Interesting view, that if you challenge your opponents to provide evidence (When did Stalin ever start a war) and they do so, then the appropriate response is to change the challenge (ah, but that war was justified).

With all due respect Dafydd, people have written comments as to how Stalin had started a war, example the Russio-Finnish war. The actual thread, again referring back to what was being asked “Most frequent causes of 20th Century Wars” can open up so much debate as to whether Stalin had caused or contributed to the of start any war during the 20^th Century. That’s the beauty about it! As people have mentioned on this thread it doesn’t matter why they started, as that was not the question asked in the first place. You asked the question, you were given the answer, and for you to “change the challenge”, in which you have openly said u are “glad to be of service” I think it would be you receiving the E at Gcse, as you have totally gone off the point of what was being asked....funnily enough by you!

Clare - one war does not make a monster. Clinton attacked more countries in his brief tenure, while Stalin (and the Soviet people) saved the world from Fascist domination.

I merely pointed out the obvious brainwashing that had taken place on some of the contributors to this thread. CIA is a very powerful organisation.

Case reopened, sorted, and closed again.

Yes that's great to know about Clinton, but as I said already, you asked the question. the questions being "errr...could you tell me how Stalin started a War?" Your example of Clinton does not change this fact, in fact COMPLETELY irrelevant! Also, I edited my post as I realized I spelled your name incorrectly.
