Hello there

Like a few people here I am currently putting together the above for September. In particular I have been assigned the foillowing two modules. Environmental Issues and Prejudice and Persecution. Does any body have any suggestions r.e. structuring these two modules in terms of a SOW.

I am currently working on the P&P module basing it around a case study of the holocaust. However, I'm quite concerned by the breadth of other areas to bring... Balkans? Rwanda? Does anybody have any suggestions or advice on how to approach this module?

Thanks in advance...

Hi Stuart,

I can help with lessons on Rwanda if you are still looking for stuff. Please let me know...

On another note, as part of trying to get a small insight into the teaching of the Rwandan genocide in the UK Survivors Fund has put together a very quick online survey (literally 30 seconds to fill in) . Would there be any chance that you could respond to it and pass it on to colleagues please?

If you'd like to take a look at the survey the link is: http://www.surveymon...7xtX4_2fA_3d_3d

Many thanks,

Andy

Hi Stuart.

We've been doing P&P for centuries, and its changed little in its new incarnation. We focus around key ideas (now concepts).

We have these following case studies :
Hitler and the Jews (shows methods of stereotyping, prejudice, spiral of persecution and socialisation of hatred of Jews) - useful to show Pianist/Schindlers
Bullying (small scale example with direst consequences of what students can do to one another) - usually just a few lessons.
Stephen Lawrence - (typifies racist murder AND institutional racism) - 1or2 lessons.
Local areas - highlights particular tensions between BNP and large insualar Asian population and promotes tolerance and understanding.
REALM (to solve conflict Role models/Education/Action and Awareness/Laws/Mixing and Media) - Give Racism Red Card, anti bullying policies etc

We have a major focus on keywords, definitions and example for around 10-20 of the main keywords for this topic.

Not sure if this helps?! Drop a PM if you any further clarity...
