Hi all, I would like to pick your brains about blogs as many of you are way ahead on this. I want to set up a blog for our department and maybe Geography this year and wondered if you could recommend any. My ICT skiils are reasonable but I also want to work on it with our GAT students so it needs to be straight forward.
Many thanks in anticipation
Carol S

http://wordpress.com/

You could try this, although like all sites, minimum age is 13 to have one, so I assume the Head of Department is old enough!
Seriously, a good straightforward site

Wordpress is great. The only issue with Wordpress.com, like many 'free' services is that they're supported by advertising that you have no control over.

It might be worth seeing if you can tap into a little bit of money either to pay for the ad-free version, or to look at hosting your own (you can download and install the wordpress software on your own domain for free). There may well be someone at school who could help with that.

They started putting very intrusive adverts, not just on the side, but linked from the text in the blog posts themselves. That was the point at which we installed our own version of WordPress Multiuser and started hosting our own!

Here's an article on the basics of starting your own blog, with some pretty useful links in it.

Posterous is very simple to use. Well worth it, unless your idiotic LEA decide to block it.
