I am still fumbling around in the dark with this one, and have spent a fruitless half term trying to get my head round the issue.
I would like to prepare the student by looking at the impact of Stresemman at resolving the issues Germany faced before 1929, and then for the actual controlled assessment, look at how Hitler was responsible for restoring German pride by 1939. It seems to comply with the requirement of looking at the role of an individual.
A: Does this sound like a reasonable plan to those of you who have a better understanding of the task?
B: What sort of resources might you use to help?
C: Are there any exemplars of Controlled Assessment out there, apart from the standard guidance issued by the board? A clear mark scheme would help!
We are doing USA for Study in Depth, GB 1890 to 1918, and Early Cold War [1945 to end of Vietnam] for International study.
Thank you very much,
Simon

I'm hanging fire regarding coursework until I've been on one of the OCR courses aimed at this.
I've just looked at the training brochure....no courses specifically on controlled assessment yet. I'm sure they said they would be running them. I can only find the 'getting started ones' they offered last year.

I'm on the same course, and very much hoping to be enlightened!
All I know at the moment is we hope to base our CA on the role of the individual in World War Two. Lots of issues still to be resolved...
Marking this stuff will also be interesting - the mark scheme isn't exactly straightforward!

I've just got back from the OCR GCSE feedback session with Colin Shepherd and people are telling me that they've already booked onto courses for Controlled Assessment in March which is when the new question arrives in Interchange.Surely they've got that right?

I was on a Get started - guidance for first delivery in the summer term, which covers the spec and it touched on controlled assessment - especially how to organise the 8 hours ...but they said they were going to run specific courses on how to mark controlled assessment in the Spring. They had schools who were working on CA assessment in Autumn term and they would use this pilot to train teachers. I'm wating for those courses to appear because I need guidance on how to mark controlled assessment.
