Help
Am just wondering how other people are getting on with the OCR B A2 personal study. It is very different to previous AQA personal study and after dodgy results on one of the AS papers last year I don't want our kids to get caught out producing something which doesn't hit the spot.
What do your introductions look like?
How are the essays being structured?

We do Specification A, so can't comment directly but what has the OCR support been like for this? For the Coursework module on Spec A we feel that it has been poor. There is no Coursework Adviser service for example. For this and numerous other reasons we are going back to AQA next year.

I'm on the B spec with OCR too
I've structured this so as to move ahead on their questions once we've ensured that they are all up to speed with their background reading. I've now had all the questions back from the consultancy service and this will tweak their reading. I've set up an appointment rota with each student and they have to have an outline ready for the first week back.
I do believe that OCR will have further Inset on this in the new year so keep your ears to the ground for that one.We're all fumbling to a certain extent.

I have not been OCR's greatest fan in the past - however I have to point out that there is a coursework consultancy service available to use with the Spec A pieces. I have used it and been impressed - I mentioned it on another of the threads discussing the F965 option. I'm pretty sure it's available for Spec B too - although dont quote me on that. Certainly for A they will check the titles of the Personal Investigations that pupils are proposing to study and offer advice on them. They will also check your marking on two pieces of coursework. The service is free. I used it for advice on my 11 candidates investigations studies and received a (helpful) reply within 24 hours. Details and the required form are on the OCR website. Give it a try.
