I've just taken over a Humanities faculty and I could do with a bit of advice. At GCSE we offer History, Geography and RE as full course option groups and up until now have delivered a short course RE and citizenship as compulsory for every student.
As you may imagine the short courses are not very popular and the results are not great. I want to scap these and replace them with a GCSE Humanities which will give the students a whole GCSE instead of just two halves. This wil be a compulsory GCSE so it enables students to continue with their Humanities studies at KS4.
My main concern in getting rid of the RE and Citizenship short courses is that these allowed us to show we were meeting the required provision for the subjects. Does anyone know if the GCSE Humanities would satisy the requirements for RE and Citizenship at KS4? The specifications are not too explicit when it comes to this and I have contacted the exam boards who have not been much clearer.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
