Any other NQTs?

I have been lurking this site for at least a year now as a PGCE student (shamelessly stalking for ideas!) and, having finally secured a job for Sept, I am now an NQT. Are there any others out there who may have been hiding in the shadows also? It'd be lovely to speak to others in the same position!

Hello! Nice to meet you. Which area are you in? I'm North East. Loving the summer holiday too!
Likewise! I'm at a fantastic school in Guildford. I'll be going in at some point to decorate my classroom before the real work starts! Will you have a tutor group?

LOTS of HTDF folk in this area, including a few heavyweights (professionally, of course, not literally) who I'm sure will be more than delighted to help.I'm North East.

....about posters etc ...I got loads of postcards from the HA at conferences etc and for posters I got all mine on a trip with my placement school to Eden Camp ....they don't have an online shop but you can ring and mail order - I got about 12 WW2 posters in a promotion for about £1 each

Thanks Rachel, I'll give that a try. You are brave! Is it a small school? My mentor at my placement school was the only specialist history teacher there, but lots of other teachers volunteered to take Y7 and Y8 classes.

Hope all goes well for you from september, I'm getting a little nervous now but I've written my schemes of work for all my year groups so should be ok (I hope!)

No its got around 1000 pupils so means I have all of y10-13 and only 2 y9 classes, while the rest of the dept (geographers mainly) have to do y7&8 history ....It's not great for recruitment but I can't fit any more in with the NQT reduced timetable (which I'm sure isn't actually reduced enough!!) haha!

Wow Rachel, good for you! I'm sure you're more than up to the task or they wouldn't have hired you. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes!

To echo the previous enquiry, does anybody know where you can get posters etc at a cheap price? - as I am also about to redecorate my department.
