My wife loves this, while I haven't really found a use for it yet.
That said, they could be great for gathering together visual sources on a particular topic and sharing with students.

I thought it would make an interesting tool for students to produce their own online image galleries showing life in Nazi Germany. These are our better results so far. I've given this as a homework but I had to create a special account and give the students the details so they could log on. It's not the most ideal situation but it's the only way I can control what is put online in our schools' name and our students were very quick to realise they could edit other students' boards so there's been a number of "Gary smells" boards etc etc... We had problems getting links to work and some sites couldn't be shown but my students enjoyed the research element even if it doesn't look it from the unfinished products. It looks promising and could be an interesting tool but it isn't perfect. There are hundreds of useful web 2.0 tools this has so far been just average.

Just read this article Edudemic comment on Pinterest and it seems like there may be one or two problems in using this online tool. There's another article http://www.businessi...s-lawyer-2012-2 which may be of more use. I'm not sure whether this is just scaremongering or a real problem I need to address, particularly since I set my group a homework based on pinterest.
