I have to work on the independance of India and its consequences next month.
I have already found some websites but that's not enough to build a lesson.
Can anyone help?

Hello JP. Nice to see you back on the Forum.

I think we might be able to help you a bit more if we knew a little more about the resources you already have and what it is more precisely that you plan to do in this topic. You mention 'a lesson'. Do you intend only to spend one lesson on this? How does the topic fit in with other work you are doing? Are the consequences to be restricted to India? the Indian sub-continent? SE Asia?

If it's ideas that you are looking for rather than information then why not decide on a thesis statement about Indian independence and it's consequences and then provide a variety of sources for your students to analyse and evaluate. They could do this in small groups each one focusing on a particular aspect of the topic (political, economic, social etc) and then feedback to the rest of the class. Once all the information and views had been collated you could hold a debate with the thesis statement as the motion.

If this is for your English language class then the oral work would be good practice .

As you said, it is a compulsory item for my European Section. It is only about india but also the other born states after the partition. In fact, the case study has to be studied between 1945 to mi 50's or perhaps a bit late (but not too much). I have to stick a bit to the french curriculum...that is to say:
A portrait of the nationalist's leaders
The british reaction and the role of Lord Mountbatten
The partition and its territorial , economical, ....consequences

What you said could help me. Does anybody worked on such issue?
What I really need is more general websites about this item...
