As the contents of this thread are a wee bit out of date (including my own site which no longer exists!) the list of useful, teacher run sites can npw be found at

http://groups.diigo....story/bookmark.

Yours not there? Add it!

This idea has been mooted a few times before, but I though I'd try and get it sorted for once and for all!

Many forum members have excellent websites, some of which are linked from the top of the page and some of which aren't. What would be really helpful is if we could compile a list of teacher run websites WITH (and this is the important bit!) a brief description of what was there. I was thinking of something along the lines of

URL: www.coolhistory.co.uk
RUN BY: Dave Stacey
AIMED AT: KS3 and 4 pupils and History Teachers
CONTAINS:
  • Links, games and activities for year 8 and 9 pupils
  • Resources and notes to support WJEC GCSE (Germany 1919-45; USA 1929-90; China 1949-76)
  • Resources and lesson plans for teachers, including a materials for teaching Curriculum Cymraeg
Once we've got the details, I'll compile a list in a similar way to the excellent Visual and Audio Sources Links. It may well be that there are other (better?) ways to present this information. Any comments on this are most welcome.

So - if you've got a website (or several), then could you add your details below.

Thanks!

Edited to add hyperlink to the URL.

I think this is a good idea - when you've got more I'll put it as a linked page within the forum. The is a modification I can add to make this happen. We can the update the logos at the top too.

I'll do mine when I have a little more time :)

Do add the http:// before your site though as then people can follow the link.

Does this mean I might finally get some links? Worth a try!!!

URL: www.walksonthewildeside.co.uk
Run By: Chris Wilde
Aimed at: KS3 Year 8.
Contains: An entire Scheme of work for the Industrial Revolution based on a local study of Industrial Newcastle. All lessons are interactive, and can be ran via a data projector or in a computer suite. Each lesson has pupil worksheets and lesson plans, and the site contains discussion forums for pupils and teachers.

URL: www.wildelearning.co.uk
Run By: Chris Wilde
Aimed at: KS3/4
Contains: links to various web projects created by Chris Wilde. The main focus of the site is "Paperless Preps" which is a plan for a totally paperless system for homeworks covering KS3/4. The system is currently under trial at Chris' school and is seeing an increase in quality of homworks and a figure of 95% of pupils meeting deadlines. It also contains links to other sites created by Chris including "The past in the Pictures" A site giving guidance to using video in the classroom, and "On the Button", an interactive scheme of work for the Cold War which is due to be released later this year.

Proper links would be greatly appreciated, but we'll wait and see eh???

Just giving this a bump!

If you run a website and you're not already on the list, it would be great if you could add your details here, in the format above.

Thanks again!

I have just started (at last) a website for my department. Its only a bare shell at the moment.

It only has one 'pathway' through it that is complete so far.....

Once on the site click on HISTORY logo > Year 8 > Who was Jack the Ripper (no homework or student work yet)

http://www.mrbrownin...20mainpage1.htm

Any feedback on the structure would be great.

Thanks

First post here. Spent summer updating and improving my website. It's new address is www.askwinston.net it was originally intended as a modern world revision site but I have begun to add pages for key stage 3. Not all the links work yet. It's very much a work in progress but there is a large range of interactive revision exercises using hot potatoes.
