The Mormons

 Site

   Description
Mormon History Excellent source of information from Britannica.com.  Explains about the history of the Mormons leading onto the contemporary religious beliefs.  Also worth looking about the biographies of Joseph Smith and Bringham Young.
The Mormons Detailed and useful information from the Historychannel.com.  Explains about the history of the Mormons, leading on to additional links.  A good summary to begin further research.
Article from Salt Lake Tribune Potentially useful article reproduced from the Salt Lake Tribune.  Explains about the events of the 1840s where Mormons fled Illinois.
Handcarts against fearful odds Useful article from the Historynet.com that describes the journey of the Mormon pioneers trekking to Great Salt Lake Valley through terrible conditions.
The Danites and the Mormon War Clearly organised and explained page relating to the Danites and the Mormon War of 1838.  Useful information, but beware of the author's own opinion at times.
Mountain Meadows Massacre An 'investigation' into the massacre of 1857 with links to some useful materials and ideas.  Again, an appreciation of the author's own opinion is needed.
Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints The official site of the church of Jesus Christ and lds.  Very professional presentation together with a powerful search engine make this site of use, but without much direct historical information.
Mormans.org A site which exists to 'explain the beliefs and practices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'.  A well resourced and popular site, but with similar drawbacks to the above site.
