New Perspectives on The West Absolutely tremendous online resource from the PBS of America.  Accompanying a television series, this site guides visitors chronologically through events up to 1906.
The History Channel Online resource relevant to GCSE study the American West.  The amount of text can at times make it appear overwhelming, but the variety of maps and diagrams, combined with the quality of the information make this a superb site.
WestWeb This site is fabulous - dedicated to the study of the American West, it provides primary and secondary sources, images, documents and internet links.  Clear navigation throughout.
Multicultural American West An impressive collection of links relating to all aspects of the American West.  The site also promised to add teaching materials in the near future.  Even without these, this site is very good.

Nativeweb An extremely professional site that presents information and resources on native indigenous cultures.  Using the search facility useful information can be found easily.
Gold Fever A small section of the PBS site listed above.  This provides background information about the Gold Rush in the last years of the 1800s.  A good summary.
The American West A useful site that covers a great deal of information.  It is not afraid to fall into the stereotyped descriptions though - so care is needed.  Some beneficial background!
The Wild Wild West Subtitled, 'Renegades, Rebels and Rogues' this site presents some entertaining information.  Yet, as the author admits, this site is more entertainment than history.
The American West Directory listing of sites relating to the American West.  Appears to be updated regularly so this is a good source of sites.
