The war in North Africa
Covering 1940-43, this well presented site provides some good information on the war in North Africa, covering the battles of Tobruk and El Alamein.

Text heavy, but extremely useful material on the Battle of El Alamein.  Further links to additional material are available, making this site a useful source.
D-Day - Normandy 1944
US based site covering all aspects of D-Day.  Access to some splendid audio-visual material, backed up by good description and explanation.  Impressively comprehensive material written by top historians.

Excellent information on the war in the Far East from the History Learning site.  Leads onto additional sections, yet the level of detail allows pupils to gain a good understanding of the important points from just this page.

Detailed and useful information from the online Encylopaedia Britannica.  Ideal as an overview to build on with additional research.
