There are several good (teachers and other) sites I could recommend, but which are best depends on what topic you are trying to research.

If you tell us what that is we could be more helpful.

In the mean time take a look at the following to see of they have what you want:

The History Learning Site - lots of topics and very informative
ActiveHistory - also excellent for lots of topics. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SUBSCRIPTION SITE SO SOME RESOURCES MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE.
JohnDClare's site - brilliant for modern World History
SchoolsHistory.org - lots of topics especially Medicine Through Time GCSE course

Anyway - let us know what you are trying to find out about and we can point you to the best places for research.

Wikipedia ( a free online encyclopedia) is certainly a good general reference tool.

Unfortunately, in order to be able to use JSTOR, the school/college you go to has to have a subscription to the service and your IP has to be an 'approved' one. It is also more likely to be useful to A Level candidates.

Thank you for offering suggestions though. Helpful of you.

Good sites for the Suffragettes/Votes for Women include:
Votes for Women - on Mr Clare's site which I mentioned before.
The Role of Women section of the History Learning Site.
Winning the Vote for Women
Emancipation of Women - section of the Spartacus site

I hope these help, but if you have specific questions then do post again.

Thank you for these suggestions 'hihohiho'. Very helpful of you.

This page of the ActiveHistory site has links to various materials connected with the Suffragettes including worksheets and PowerPoint Presentations and this excellent online activity - What were the arguments for and against giving women the vote? HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOW A SUBSCRIPTION SITE.

The link for the relevant section of the Learning Curve site is here.
