Try the American West section of the Spartacus website.
There are sections there for:
.... and more.
I guess this is the sort of information you are looking for?
If you are looking for primary (first hand/eye witness accounts) sources, then below the factual information for any name that you click on you will normally find extracts from primary sources.
If I have misunderstood what you want then do post again.

- Explorers
- Frontiersmen, Mountain Men and Fur Trappers
- Migrants and Settlers

Hey!
My history teacher said that for our mock exam, we have one choice question. I have chosen to do homesteaders. The thing is, i dont seem to have much information about them, and would like to know whether you think i need to revise some more for it.
I know that the first homesteaders settled on the plains in the 1860's and that the Homesteaders Act of 1862 gave settlers 160 acres of free land. In 1873, the Timber and Culture act was passed, which meant that you could have more free land if you planted trees. Also, the Dessert Land Act in 1877 made more land avaliable in dry areas, and that in the 1870's the territories and railway companies advertised widely to encourage more settlers to move west.
I know its a kind of random question, but if you have any ideas please help!

You might find the following pages useful:
http://www.schoolhis...sion/west.shtml
Not all the links still work, but the pages will be updated later on next week. Not of great use for you if your exam is tomorrow, but worth having a look at anyway.
In terms of revision, you seem to have the basic facts, but you will really need to be able to explain and use this basic factual information in an essay, arguing a point related to the question.
The best site to extend your knowledge (and one of the ones from the link mentioned above) is LearnHistory.org.uk. See http://www.learnhistory.org.uk/west/
You can download the PowerPoints and develop your knowledge further. You might also like to look through some of the resources on the main part of this site:
http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/gcselinks/b...orksheets.shtml
Good luck in your exam!
