For my GCSE coursework I have to answer the question:

Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 mainly because of women's contributions to the war effort. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

I was wondering if you could help me conjure up an essay layout, because im not sure whether i'm meant to talk only about the war effort, or if i have to put in other possible reasons for women gaining the vote?

Would I have to do Point Evidence Explain, for yes and no. And would i be allowed to leave with a bias answer as long as i mention both sides of the argument?

Argh!

Thanks!

Since these are questions directly related to your GCSE coursework I'm afraid that Exam Board Regulations prevent us from giving too much help. As we say in the Forum Rules (top of the page)

Do NOT post specific requests for help in completing your GCSE coursework.  This may be considered cheating.  Check with your teacher first.

All I will say is that the question requires you to weigh up the relative importance of all the reasons which help to explain why women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 and that in your conclusion you should definitely provide a clear and reasoned answer to the question set.

It sounds to me as if your teacher has got you well-trained on answering questions of this type. B)

You may well find Mr Clare's site on Votes for Women helpful with your coursework. It begins here:

You didn't "phrase your question wrongly" Zara. It's just that there's a limit on the help we are allowed to give with Coursework. I'm sure you understand.

Good Luck!
