:( I am trying to do history coursework about human rights (or lack of them) in China. For an example i have chosen the incident in Tiananmen Square, 1989. I know what happened, to who by who. But i dont know why. Why did the students go on protest in the first place? what were the events leading to the "massacre"? please help. :D

Since your questions relate to a piece of coursework which is part of your GCSE exam I'm afraid Exam Board regulations prevent us from "providing the answer for you". It is your work after all. <_<

However, you should find the following links helpful:

Tiananmen Square protests - article from Wikipedia.

A similar article from 'Infoplease'.

This site is linked to an American TV programmme about the protests - but if you follow some of the links there is much useful info. especially in the Links section.

I hope this helps.
