Today I did a practice GCSE question on new technology and I am in Y10 but still got 24/25 A* :D The only thing is the teacher said to mention about the source more! Now I was wondering if I made 4 points from the source and 4 from my own knowledge then would that be sufficient for 8 marks or is it okay to use 5 of one 3 of the other? ( Please do not post suggestions for an answer as it will be useless) Thanks

Congratulations! That's very good for a Year 10.

We wouldn't dream of giving you an answer (we only ever provide 'help' - not direct answers - as our Forum Rules state at the top of the page).

As a general rule, as long as you provide a 'balanced' answer (in this case a balance between the source and your own knowledge) then this will get you a good mark - as long as what you said is historically accurate. So yes .... 5:3 ought to be satisfactory.

I don't know whether your teacher will have talked to you yet about the way GCSE marking works but marks are awarded in 'levels' so you clearly got into the top level. It may be that you were not awarded the full 25 marks because you could have made fuller use of a source than you did .... or it may be due to another reason. Only your teacher can explain in detail why you were given the mark you got.

Okay thanks for that! The only reason i put about no answers was because in a previous topic I was accused of asking for an answer so always best to be on the safe side! :D
