I think that maybe you don't realise that this site is based in the UK and that all the teachers who answer questions here are British. I gather that you are Canadian and whilst you are welcome to post questions we don't really have much expertise in topics which are part of the Canadian school curriculum.

I have searched on the web fairly thoroughly but can not find much that is helpful and since I don't really know how this topic is taught in your schools (or the ground you will have covered in class) it's hard to know what you need to cover.

In view of your thesis I can only assume that you need to look first at the historical reasons for poor relations between the English and the French in Canada from the loss of Quebec and the fact that England and France were enemies throughout much of the late C18th and C19th.

Then you will need to consider the impact of Canada's becoming a Dominion and of the domination of English immigration and culture

Finally at the 'separatist' movement of the Quebecois.

At least ... this is what I assume you need to do. I am afraid I am not really very well informed about the details of all this, but maybe your national radio station or newspaper sites will have articles that may prove helpful.

Also is your course textbook of no help? Have you been to your local public library and explained to the librarian what you are trying to research?

Sorry. It's not often that we are unable to help.

thank you for the effort. your reply is really appreciated, and youre suggestions did help me. thank you again.

i did try the public library, but all the books are so general and would take ages to read. most of what they talk about is very loosely connected to my topic. i'll try using my text book, its bound to prove useful one of these days.

im sorry i never even noticed this site was based in the UK, but im still glad i found it.

im going to talk to my teacher and get some extra help.

thank you again.

That's OK. As I said, you are still very welcome. I was merely trying to explain the fact that we couldn't be of too much help.
