First post:
Right, when teaching about the soviet rise, are you aloud to agree more towards the left that capital america?
And when writing essays, would i get marked down for agreeing with certain Marxist views?

Second post:
Is it aloud, to support certian Marxist views in a lesson?
I personaly think some of Marx wouldnt work in todays society, but there is alot to learn from his ideas. And certain points would benifit todays political matters.

You make a very interesting point. Remember the job of a history teacher is to encourage people to think critically for themselves. Thus you develop the confidence to explain and develop your views, and then defend them from vigorous examination.

You can most certainly put across your ideas and views - as long as you carefully and fully explain them - that is what you will be given marks for.

Yeah, its just some people take the view, Marxisms bad, in the same way Nazi Germany was bad, but that is not the case atall, Marxism is about equality, not discrimination.
But what would you do if in a lesson, some kid was trying to put across extreme right wing views? Surely that can not be tolerated?

No, of course not. Thus there is a limit to what is acceptable within a classroom - but the teacher would explain the dangers of extreme right-wing viewpoints, linking the dangers to the reality of the holocaust during the second world war.

Yeah (sorry about putting it in the wrong topic box, didnt see it) thats what i expected.
I just remember a teacher trying to explain that the "left/right", levels of politics is a lie. and it is really a cirlce. But that really can not be true, as communism (if done properly, and i don't belive it has been, or mabie ever will) is a great ideal. Just inpractical. But extreme right is seen as selfishness, and discrimination.
Hence a liberal view being the perfect one! haha my opinon anyway,
