Everyone had there favourite topics and eras in history. Whether its the world wars to the civil wars or the tudors to the Stuarts. I would like to know but JUSTIFY your answer EXPLAIN WHY you like that subject or era.

I personally like the civil wars BECAUSEthere were many great leaders and tatics involved and as i did a project on them at Christmas i found more information about them.

Thank you, Historyisace

I really like the areas that i am studying for - The Russian Revolution, the rise and fall of the communist state, the depression and New Deal and USA; a divided Union.

However, i think probably the area i most enjoy is the Tudors. I dont know why - i guess it is because i have learnt about them the most and am fascinated by them. I also seem to have a sort of affinity with the era because it is the only topic so far that i remember pretty much eveything that i learn about!

I dont think you can really ask people to "Justify" and to "Explain why" they like a certain era of history because i know loads of people who for no reason just enjoy learning about a period of history.

Although i enjoy learning the topics i am studying for GCSE i generally prefer British history because i like hearing the names of places that i have visited or heard of and i like history because i enjoy learning about people, why they did things, what drove them to it, and what history and the modern world have labelled them. I also like seeing how history has shaped the modern world but i also think how sad it is when we do not learn from past mistakes. You only have to look back in history to see the same mistakes happen over and over again and you can not help think when will we learn?

I suppose you can't ask people to justify and explain why. But i what i meant was don't just put i like the tudors (for sake of arguement0 because i do.

I liked the last part of your reply, this is very true.

I like british history too.

One of my favourite subjects in history is Nazi Germany. I find it really interesting how Hitler managed to consolidate his rule and how things like the holocaust came to happen.
I suppose my main interest in history, although I haven't covered it at school is the life of Anne Frank! I know she was only one of millions of Jews who were murdered in the holocaust, but I just find her life and her diary really interesting. I have 3 biographies about her life, 1 biography about her father, Otto Frank, her book of Stories and Tales, 2 versions of the diary, a film and documentary about her on video and the Anne Frank house CD ROM!

I like to read about world war 1 and 2 because it shows how war is about. It is pitiful to see those civilians being killed but it also tell us how bitter it is in the past,so we should treasure what we have now. :warning:

the areas of history i enjoy are Russian history and Hitler/Nazi Germany. i think Nazi Germany is so complex and you can have really grate discussions about it and as for Russian history, you can see how it's just going in one big circle, i know it sounds boring but if you watch the news you can learn a grate deal!!!

I like working on the Blitz, probably because we spent a year on it in year 6, but we're doing it now and its interesting to learn how people think the Nazis were lying to their people with the censorship and propaganda but the Britz used the same, for example a bomb hit a water main and flooded a Tube station being used as a shelter, this never came out until after the war!

I like studying a certain person's life in depth eg Mary Queen Of Scots, because you get to know the person and it helps me understand related topics. I liked the Shipbuilding topic my class done too, because it was interesting and motor cars.

I also like local history, but there's not much of that in the coursework and the exam would have to vary from place to place. It gives me a sense of belonging in a certain place.

I like what I'm doing right now, which is a Depth Study on Russia. I think it's because I'm a bit tired of going over British history in KS3, and I really like learning about a different country. I've always known that a certain Tsar was overthrown in a something revolution involving Anastasia, but never really knew the details - so it's satifsying to finally know who all these people are.

I am also really interested in communism. I'm not a supporter myself but it's fascinating how they managed to get control of so many people around the world and how communists rose to power.

In general I like most topics I do in history because I just like history. :D Not too keen on Nazi Germany though, because we've done that to death.

I like all history as it cannot change dractically. It has happend and stays the same. Unlike science constantly changing through discovery and advancement. Anyone know what I mean?

However my favourite Historical Topic is the Scottish Wars of Independence as i am a patriotic person and I like to learn about history close to home. My favourite part is the Battle of Bannockburn. You know... When THE SCOTS BET THE ENGLISH WHEN OUT NUMBERED 40,000 TO 13,000.
