Beveridge Thing what the dickens is it...

Its mentioned once on one sheet of paper. I can't find any-thing else in my nots about the 'Beveridge Commision' Is it the same as beveridge report, I've heard about that... :wacko:

Basically the answer is 'yes'. A 'commission' is a sort of committee under the leadership of a named person (in this case Beveridge) chosen by the government to investigate a particular issue/problem. Then the Commission produces a 'Report' of all its findings and makes recommendations about what it thinks should be done.

Here are some links on the Beveridge Report - if you should need them:
Beveridge Report - short article on BBC site.
Welfare State - an excellent page on the National Archives site about what the Beveridge Report aimed to do (ie set up the Welfare State) and achieved.
