Now that students (and teachers) in Scotland are back to work, I thought I would set a few questions for pupils in my school to respond to.

1. The anniversary of the death of a Scottish hero is being celebrated this week. Who is he and where and how did he die?

2. In which battle did he defeat the army of Edward I?

3. Which battle did he lose, leading to him becoming an outlaw, on the run?

4. Where was our hero captured and by whom?

5. Name the actor who played him in a (fairly) recent film.

Just out of interest, do you work in Scotland? I go to school there and it's fun getting out of school before the English folk for summer holidays, but coming back before them makes me want to have another 6 weeks off!
