Are you asking "How did British rule affect political life in India?" The problem in answering your question is that you don't say what period of history (dates) you are referring to, so I am going to assume that you are asking about the time from the Indian Mutiny in 1857 to Indian Independence in 1947.

After the defeat of the Indian Mutiny in 1857 (when many Indians rebelled against the British) the control of India passed from the East India Company to the Crown and the company was dissolved. The Crown's representative in India was now the British Viceroy, who had almost absolute authority. In other words this had a huge impact on political life in India since Indians were now directly ruled from Britain and were subjects of the British Crown. The Mughal Emperor was forced into exile in Burma and although Indian princes still had a great deal of wealth they had no political power or influence any more.

That's the basic answer to your question. I don't know if you then need to go on to describe how, eventually, Indians began to fight for Independence from Britain and to form political organisations of their own? If so, you had better post again, but I am a bit reluctant to spend a lot of time on this since (so far) you haven't acknowledged the help I gave you with your question about the modernisation of Japan. :(

It's not that I , or any of the teachers here, want gushing thanks for the help we give, but since we spend quite a lot of time answering people's questions (and sometimes have to do quite a bit of research in order to do that) then it's a bit disappointing if there is no indication at all that the person has seen the answer/found it helpful.

So ... did you need more detailed information and help with your question?
