If your article is just about America's entry to WWII, then you need to focus on the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbour on December 7th 1941.
At that time the following political leaders were:
USA: Franklin D Roosevelt
UK: Winston Churchill
USSR: Josef Stalin
Germany: Adolf Hitler
Japan: Emperor Hirohito
Italy: Benito Mussolin
For links on the bombing of Pearl Harbour see:
http://www.eyewitnes...y.com/pearl.htm .... note that this is written as an eyewitness account/newspaper report - but don't copy it, that would be cheating/plagiarism
http://www.bbc.co.uk...arbour_01.shtml ... a detailed factual article
http://www.historypl...eline/pearl.htm ... this page includes a summary of events and has several photos. You might want photos for your article?
Here are a couple of timelines of events during WWII:
http://www.schoolshi...ondworldwar.htm .... very basic list
http://www.ucc.uconn...oh/Timeline.htm ... though note that this begins several years before WWII.
I hope this helps?
