Here's the question

Why did the the West distrust the USSR before 1945?

The only reason I can think of is that the USSR signed the Nazi Soviet Pact. Are there any more?

Yes. You need to be thinking of the whole basis of distrust between the West and the USSR. ie the ideological differences between them, and the Western fear that it was the USSR's intention to undermine democracy and capitalism and spread communism world wide.

Do you need specific details about that? If so, then do post again - but do remember that this site is in the UK so there are time differences and it's now late at night here.
