Hio,

i was wondering if you could give me some websites for the causes and outcomes on the wars of the roses. i was mainly looking for some on the social causes, i.e. on Henry VI's mental disorder.

thanx

Try the following sites on the Wars of the Roses:
http://www.warsoftheroses.com/
and this page on the Wars' origins:
http://www.warsofthe...com/origins.cfm

http://en.wikipedia....rs_of_the_Roses

http://homepages.shu...eal/history.htm

http://www.fifteenth...t/history1.html

and on Henry VI:
http://www.warsofthe...Shell.cfm?pid=2 ... very brief overview.
http://en.wikipedia....y_VI_of_England
http://www.englishmo...ntagenet_11.htm

Most sites on these topics mention Henry VI's mental illness, but nothing in much detail though there are suggestions that he may have suffered from catatonic schizophrenia when he went into 'a stupor' in 1453. Given the lack of understanding of mental illness in the mid C15th and the lack of proper medical evidence I think you are unlikely to find anything definite on the topic. I certainly would suggest that the political causes of the Wars were more signifcant than Henry's illness, though this may have been the 'trigger.'
