At the time of the 1918 General Election, Ireland was not yet an independent country, but was governed from London. The term 'first Dáil' refers to the SinnFein (an Irish political party that wanted independence from England) candidates who were elected in !918 - but NOT to 'the General Election' of that year. The word 'Dáil' is an Irish word given to their House of Commons and I think I am right in saying that when Ireland/Eire declared themselves independent in 1919 those people became members of their first Dáil.

The political 'party' that won the 1918 election was the 'Coalition Group' led by David Lloyd George - and yes, he became Prime Minister. The 'Coalition Group' was a mix of (some) Conservatives and Liberals (the Liberal Democrats didn't exist as such till much later)
