If you scroll down this page of links to worksheets and PowerPoint presentations on Crime and Punishment then towards the bottom you will see links to a number of resources about Jack the Ripper (the ones by Miss Boughey) that you should find helpful.
For straightforward information try this page of the Metropolitan Police site on Jack the Ripper.
If you need more information or help then do post again.
Note: I have removed the Poll you seem to have tried to set up on Jack the Ripper because you didn't pose a question.

My homework topic is to write an essay on the following question: "The number of obstacles that the police faced in 1888 made it more difficult to capture the Whitechapel murderer".
I think it is obvious that this statement is true, and I'm having difficulties in finding any reasons as to why it could be untrue. I want to give a balanced argument but I really can't find anything that opposes the statement. Whichever way I look at it, it would have been easier for the police without the hoax letters, the press, the racial stereotyping of Jews etc.
I know that the homework won't be done for me and I assume this means I won't be GIVEN the reasons, so this is my question: Would it be acceptable if I just gave reasons as to why the investigation would have failed anyway, even if there had been no obstacles such as the ones mentioned above?
Thankyou in advance to anyone who helps me, and a special thankyou to Miss Boughey for making her brilliant work available to our class.

You are along the right lines as it is difficult to write a balanced response to the question you have been asked. The ideas you have suggested are certainly the best way of approaching this.
You mention Miss Boughey and I guess this is where the question comes from, but if not - see her Word document at http://www.weatherheadhistory.ik.org/pub/C...%20Herrings.doc

Have you tried using a search engine. I'm not meaning to be rude, but a quick search finds an enormous amount of material.
By typing in 'Jack the Ripper' I came up with:
http://www.accomodata.co.uk/jack.htm
http://www.met.polic...tory/ripper.htm
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/museum/....asp?item_id=39
From teachers' websites:

http://www.learnhist...g.uk/ripper.htm
http://www.activehistory.co.uk/Miscellaneo...f/jack/jack.htm

John - you need to use the same sites I suggested for you yesterday. Have a look on those and you will see links and information about Jack the Ripper. If this isn't enough, do a search and you will find lots of informaton.
