this is my plan but i do not know how to link them all together and expand them

When I'm looking at your essay plan, I think it's telling me WHAT happened, but not WHY it happened.

The years up to 1979 were (supposed to be) years of 'detente', when the two sides (supposedly) came closer together, ending in the SALT2 agreement.
But the years 1979-85 were, as you know, a 'new cold war', when things got really bad.

So what you need to do is to explain WHY they got so bad.

Looking at the BBC Bitesize site, I think there are two main reasons, aren't there:
1. The USSR invaded Afghanistan.
2. Reagan came to power in America and set about destroying the 'evil empire'.

What you need is a paragraph on each, citing FACTS which are evidence these two factors existed (which you willget from your list), but also EXPLANATION of HOW they led to a worsening of relations (which will come out of yourhead).

ok so i have created the intro it goes liek this:
Relations changed between the USA and the Soviet Union in the years 1979-85 because détente was destroyed following the soviet invasion in the years 1979-85 because détente was destroyed following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, which then led to a renewed arms race.

but i dont know how to link all my key points. This is a 15 mark questions it realy stressing me out

Write your essay in two sections.

First write about the USSR invasion of Afghanistan.
DESCRIBE it
EXPLAIN HOW it changed USA-USSR relations
ASSESS how much it changed them

Second, write about how Reagan came to power in America and set about destroying the 'evil empire'.
DESCRIBEwhat he did
EXPLAIN HOW he changed USA-USSR relations
ASSESS how much he changed them

Finish with a conclusion listing anything else you can think of, and weighing the two main causes.
