Hi can anyone give me a bit of information on what "higher grade schools" are. It came up on a past EDEXCEL paper that i was doing (an essay question). The course i am studying is Edexcel GCSE History B- Changes in education. I havent learnt anything about it except a sentence that came up in my text book! I just want to know something about it, in case it comes up in the real test!!!!

Many thanks :)

In Scotland, Higher Grade schools were schools which offered education to the Scottish Higher Grade (A level equivalent). These schools therefore had secondary classes which offered Higher Grade education beyond the normal leaving age. What the term might mean in an England and Wales context I am not entirely sure!
