Hi!

I'm confused about the structure of the papers for my exam. I know for certain that I have to do option Z in paper one, but I don't understand what options V, W etc. contain and which ones I would be doing in my exam. I also need to know what's on paper 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

ISN'T IT CONFUSING!!!

So, here we go:

Paper 1 is on Friday 8th June pm
In section 1 of the exam, you will do two out of three questions on International Relations.
Just which questions you will be able to select your two from will depend on the International Relations Option you have studied.
Option V is 1900-1949, Option W is 1919-1963 and Option X is 1945-1991 - basically, if you have studied the Causes of World War ONE, you have done Option V. If you have studied Ronald Reagan you have done Option X. Otherwise you have done Option W.
Anyhow, you don't really need to know this for the exam - just in section 1 of the exam do two questions on topics you have studied.

Also in Paper 1, you will have to do one of the two questions at the end. One is always Britain in World War One ('option Y') and the other is Britain in World War Two ('option Z').
From what you say, you will be doing the four-part question on Britain in WWII, which is the last question on the paper.

Paper 2 is on Thursday 14 June am
You have to do a question from section 1, and a question from section 2.
You must not do the question in section 2 on the same country you answered on in section 1.
I don;t know which countries you studied, but they almost certainly will be two from: Russia 1914-1941, Germany 1918-1939, America 1919-1941 or Britain 1905-1951.

Thanks, that really helped. I think I'm doing option W.

I have another question though . On paper 2, if I was to do Nazi Germany would the other choice definitly be to do with the Revolution in Russia or is there a chance that it could be on Stalin?

On paper 2, I cannot promise you a quesiton on anything.
Section One will have options on Germany and Russia.
So will Section Two.
It really makes sense that, if Section One has a question on Weimar Germany, Section Two's question on Germany will probably be on Nazi Germany.
Similarly, I alwaytell my pupils to make sure they're experts on Stalin, because he comes up every year in either Section One or Section Two.
But there's no promise - you could get both Germany questions on Weimar Germany, and if you were to concentrate on Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia, there's every chance that they might come up together in Section Two (against each other).
So best revise everything.

Erm. Help?

I've got AQA (Specification B, whatever that means) History beginning next week with "Paper One", followed closely by Paper Two, and, yep, Paper Three.

Plus, I know I've got to revise two for each paper from the options of WWI, Women In Britain, Cold War, Germany post-WWI, America past WWI, and maybe something to do with that odious Hitler bloke, but he might be in the Germany bit. Which topic goes with which paper, anyone?

Sorry for being so annoying, but are you able to chose between doing questions on the Cold War and questions on the road to world war 2? I think we could chose in our mock, but is that the case in the real exam too?

Yes.
You will get asked three questions on your chosen period, from which you will have to do two.

I HATE trying to predict questions, because there is absolutely no guarantee of what will come , but if past form is anything to go by, question 1 will be on the casues of WWI, questions 2 and 3 will be on the Interwar period, and question 4 will be on the Cold War 1945-1963.

Have you seen this thread?

On Friday 8th June pm, you will get Paper 1.
That has [chose-2-from-3] questions on International relations (you may have done 1900-1950/1919-1963/ or 1945-1991 - you'll have to ask your teacher).
PLUS one question on Britain in WWI OR Britain in WWII.

On Thursday 14th June am you're going to get Paper 2 on - from what you said, Germany 1918-1939 and America 1917-1941.

And (I THINK - check it with your teacher):
On Tuesday 19 June pm you will get Paper 3, and you better see your teacher about what's on that.

Time to start revising Mike - try this site: http://www.johndclare.net/, particularly the 'Revision Diary'.

Clearly not!
I suspect you are lot more on the ball than you give the impression of!
Please use this forum for any queries - and all the very best with your revision.

Make sure you've nailed the FACTS first, and then move on to thinking about the skills, and how you will use them in the exam.
