I'm just about to take a Source based paper on the Russian Revolution and Nazi Germany. I was wondering if anyone knew of a general writing structure that would allow me to keep focus on the question and most importantly gaining as many marks possible. Also I was wondering how many inferences you would need for question (worth 4 marks). Thanks in advance.

Can't tell you (or direct you to) anything specifically for Edexcel, but on doing source questions in general, listen to Mr Allsopp's podcast.
Also read this webpage , and -ifyou are clelver - also perhaps (advanced) these markscheme analyses on sourcework - although aimed at AQA, much of what they say applies to GCSE sourcework in general.
If you ask your teacher, he should be able to look at a previous year's markscheme and tell you this exactly.
Hope that helps.
