An essay I was assigned in my European History unit last year.

I'm interested to see people's opinion on this question. I personally disagree, but would like to approach this from other's perspectives. any thoughts?

I think this is an EXCELLENT discussion topic.
I hope people respond - we have not been terribly good at getting historical discussions going in the past.

Perhaps, jessiemay, you might like to kick off by setting down your opinion?
