hello there,

i just moved schools and have gone straight in to a history class that are studying about the cuban missile crisis
and i have missed quite a lot of lessons on this topic....now i have tryed every book as well as website to give an answer but i just cant seem to see the answer or make sence of my own so please if anyone can help it would be great

Kennedy adopted a tough, won't move an inch' line towards the Soviets.

He felt he had been outmanoeuvred at the Vienna summit of 1961.
He felt that, as a newcomer to the post, Khrushchev regarded him as a 'soft touch.
He had been elected on a 'get tough with the commies' ticket.

It really depends how much detail you are required to cover in your course - this is the kind of thing that only your class notes can help you with. However, normally the Bay of Pigs is summarised as:

In April 1961 the CIA encouraged, funded and transported an attempt by anti-Castro Cuban exiles to invade Cuba. It failed miserably, greatly embarrassing Kennedy. In September 1961, therefore, Castro asked for – and Russia publicly promised – weapons to defend Cuba against America.

These are the major impacts - the Bay of Pigs cemented the Cuban relationship with the USSR, who were only too glad to assist. This, in turn, led to the Cuban Missiles Crisis.

i know i have probably asked more then enough questions but am i corrected in saying that in october 1962 American spy planes had spotted nuclear arms on cuba??

and did it make realtions worse between the superpowers because cuba was close to america and america felt threatened also the soviets felt angry because america was spying on them


or am i just wrong ??

I partly think America were Responsible for worsening superpower relations. For example America had caused the Bay of Pigs invasion, spied on Russia and threatened them with bombs as well as separating Berlin causing one country to act as if it was two.


However, the Soviet Union were also to blame. For example they had placed missiles in Cuba, made missiles bases behind Americas back,...........


is that right and could i add anything more to both please???
