This is all i have on Part 4 of the sylabus:
Carter wanted to fix the ME problem so he wanted to spark up the Geneva Conference (failed:1973) but this time he made the concession of a Palestinian delegation present. Carter Failed:
Begin and Sadat: Sadat sought to make peace with Israel (OMG: wanted Sinai back?, Israel: Yay Arab friend), Sadat went to Israel, Begin went to Egypt. Eastern European countries threatened to attack (they wanted Geneva Conference + Cold War: Israel and Egypt!?) They ran into difficulties which is why US decided to “mediate” the talks. Led to:
Camp David Agreements (1978): Israel got out of Sinai, Egypt would recognise Israel, plans for autonomous state in West Bank and Gaza, freedom of passage in Suez and straits of Turin, and DMZ called on both sides. (Woo > Yay > Woo > Yay: 1st)
Unpopular with Arabs: traitor! Israel: We have to get out Sinai?
Oslo Secret Talks and Accords (1993): Made a five interim plan to negotiations and how the Arab-Israeli conflict would be fixed.
White House Agreement: Israel recognised PLO as representatives of Palestinians. PLO denounced violence and disciplined anyone who broke the agreement. Palestinian flag allowed to be used in the West Bank.
Peace Accord (1995): Israel and Palestinians agree to extend self-rule for more of the West Bank and also allow elections to go through.
is that enough/can anyone add mroe detail to it?
