Hi,
Sorry, this question isn't about history but exams in general. I recently sat an english as literature paper with AQA and one of the modules was really low. My teachers requested the paper back and their were two sets of marks and initials on it. The secound higher set of marking was the amount the exam board gave me yet none of my teachers know why it was markd twice. Was it moderated and is it worth getting a re-mark if it was? If anyone knows anyone anything about this please help!
Thanks so much!

OK - so this is only a guess, and it may be that I am way off beam.
However, what most exam boards have is a system of moderation for their examiners.
If you are an examiner for a board, a selection of the papers you mark are remarked by a senior examiner to see whether your marking fits with the Board standard.
This is particularly so of you are a new examiner, of course.
If your marking is found to be way off beam, then ALL yur papers will be remarked.
This would explain the dual set of marks, and also why the second set of marks was taken as the final one.

If this is the case, however, it would mean that there is little point in asking for a remark, because it would mean that it has already been remarked by a senior examiner.

Of course, there is always the chance that I am wrong, and that there is a completely different explanation.

If you are only a mark or two away from the grade you expected or needed, you can't really lose in asking for a remark.
I would be guided by your teachers if I were you.
