Question 1: it is always a comprehension or understanding question, for example: How similar are these two accounts of events leading to the Korean War? Explain your answer using details of the sources ONLY!
it is important to only use information from the source and not your own knowledge, what i mean is to explain what the source says in your own words, use synonims and explain what the source is telling you!
you should always compare and contrast, so you should always look at what makes the two sources similar and also what makes them differ, it's sort of a two handed question.
step 1: write about source A with synonims
2: write about source B
3: compare (discuss similarities)
4: contrast (discuss differences)
finally...
5: ANSWER THE QUESTION! do they agree? are they similar???
and remember! There is no need for opinion!
question 2: it is an opinion question, and you should make use of your own knowledge. example : Why do you think these two sources disagree? Explain your answer using details of the sources and your knowledge.
however, it is important to remember that your opinion has to be based on real facts and you must support them with valid arguments!
question 3 & 4: personally this is the one that confuses me the most,it's supped to be an evaluation question
example: Study Sources H and I.
Do these sources prove that the United States was fully supporting the UN in Korea? Explain your answer using the details of the sources and your knowledge
you should evaluate the sources to see if they prove what the question is asking you, remember that its always important to see who wrote the source, and ask yourself if that person would have a reason to lie about what he's saying.
analyze the real source (the person who said it), when, where, why and under what circumstances!
question 5: it is once again a compare and contrast question... look at the differences between the question and also at the similarities...
question 6: synthesise! Do these sources provide convincing evidence that the Korean War was more about the USA’s
fight against communism than defending the authority of the UN? Use the sources to explain your
answer.
its a two handed question, collect evidence from all of the sources to support each side of the question. remember not to put lots of information and fact that are not relevant to answer the question.. it will only make u lose time.
Refer closely to the sources, and be carfull to get to a conclusion where you answer the question!
TIPS:
