There are huindreds of "Mr" Moderators, who I guess are all teachers.

Do you have to be a registered history teacher or something to become a moderator?
Because I have been part of this site for ages.
And I want to see If I can help other people my age.

Even if it was just 11-13 Homework help.

You are right, all the moderators are teachers.
Your contributions to help are always very welcome, but if you are reasonable you will understand why we must always run pupils' posts past an adult moderator before publishing.

The other point, of course, is that all the teachers who are moderators have been cleared to work with children - they have what in England we call a CRB check. We know the schools they work in, so we can validate them.
There is no guarantee - as you will know if you have studied pupil safety on the computer - that any of the 'pupils' who post on this forum are in fact 'pupils'. If we accepted pupils as moderators, then we would have to have teachers to moderate the pupil moderators which would be the silliest thing on earth.

It's not that we do not value many young people on the forum - some of them are wonderfully helpful and polite and utterly trustworthy.
But we have to have a policy, it works very well and that is it.
Nothing stops a pupil who is able to help another pupil posting an answer on this forum, and that answer will be moderated and approved like any other - hopefully the same day. So ther is very little lost.

There are other forums where pupils are allowed to post in reply to each other.

PS - you are a wonderful person, coolchief, because you have a challenging and improving mind - you do not just accept what is, but are all the time looking to improve and develop it.
Please do not change.
You MUST become a politician.
