Hey
I have a question, since the exam is made up of 4 papers, however only 3 for me, since I won't be taking the coursework. I am wondering if I choose to take the 20th century core in paper 1. But I don't want to study about the 'The decline and collapse of Soviet control over Eastern Europe', in paper 2; is it possible that I can study then in paper 2 the 19th century core, which would be: 'The causes of the First World War'. Is this possible, or must I only choose the core content and stick with it?
Thank you kindly for your time.

I have a better idea!! do all chapters on the 20th century except the collapse of communism.. in the exam you will have 4 choices.. if you get question on this chapter just dont pick it aand choose another one!!!!
Sometimes it is possible to 'play the percentages' in this way, but I would never recommend abandoning one topic altogether ... just in case!

I've had a look at the syllabus, and I suspect there is no problm with you doing what you want to do.
However, before you go ahead, Iwould phone the CIE board at
+44 1223 553554
(i.e. 01223 553554 if you live in the UK)
and ask to speak to a History adviser.
Tell him what you wat to do and confirm that it is OK.
