Ok - as long as you realise that you would be been in a much better position if you'd started it earlier. I think you do understand that though...

You can find out about Gustav Stresemann at:
http://www.historyle..._stresemann.htm
http://www.firstworl.../stresemann.htm
http://www.schoolshi...k/streseman.htm
http://www.spartacus...Rstresemann.htm

I'd recommend reading through those weblinks and trying to decide for yourself how successful Stresemann was. Note the major prize that he won, but also note how Adolf Hitler came to power in the years after his death, eventually leading to the outbreak of WWII....

Hope this is of some help.

I'd also recommend reviewing Mr John D Clare's materials on Weimar Germany - http://www.johndclar...ar_revision.htm and especially his summary of Stresemann's achievements:
http://www.johndclare.net/Weimar5.htm :

Stresemann's Achievements

Dawes Plan, 1924 - Stresemann called off the 1923 Ruhr strike and started to pay reparations again – but the American Dawes Plan gave Germany longer to make the payments (and the Young Plan of 1929 reduced the payments).

Inflation controlled, Nov 1923 - Stresemann called in all the old, worthless marks and burned them. He replaced them with a new Reichsmark (worth 3,000 million old marks).

French leave the Ruhr, April 1924 - Stresemann persuaded the French to leave.

Foreign Affairs - In 1925, Stresemann signed the Locarno Treaty, agreeing to the loss of Alsace-Lorraine. In 1926, Germany was allowed to join the League of Nations. Germany had become a world power again.

Economic Growth - Germany borrowed 25,000 million gold marks, mainly from America. This was used to build roads, railways and factories. The economy boomed and led to prosperity. Cultural life also boomed (the Roaring Twenties).

Reforms - Stresemann introduced reforms to make life better for the working classes - Labour Exchanges (1927) and unemployment pay. Also, 3 million new houses were built.

I desperately need help! <_<

In November 1923, £1 = 14 000 000 000 000 Deustche Marks. One loaf of bread cost 201 000 000 000 marks. In July 1923 a loaf of bread cost 3465 marks. I do not know the exchange rate of £1 to Marks.

If I had Eine Billion Marks, how many loaves of bread would I be able to buy in July 1923, and July 1923.

If anyone knows this please help me!

Thanks :D

You need to use your Maths skills to work this out - and you will still have to do your homework yourself.

Look at the information you have been given:

July 23 - £1 = unknown (to you)
Nov 23 - £1 = 14 billion marks

July 23 - cost of bread = 3465 marks
Nov 23 - cost of bread = 201,000 million marks

You wrote

- do you mean 9 billion or do you mean 1 billion?
- do you also mean July 23 and Nov 23?

With 1 billion marks how many loaves of bread can you buy?
July 23 = 1 billion marks divided by 3465
Nov 23 = 1 billion marks divided by 201,000,000,000

You can work this out if you meant 9 billion - think what you need to change.

 Your calculations should show you the impact of hyperinflation in Germany. You can find out more about hyperinflation at this site: http://www.historyle...uk/hyperinf.htm

Well, getting us to structure your essay for you is rather getting us to do your work for you. It depends exactly what your essay question is, but the best way would be to use the skills you should have developed in your history lessons.

The question you are asked is key - you need to focus on the question and (if appropriate) look at both sides of the argument.

I would have a go at planning and putting the essay together for yourself. You can get some hints at http://www.johndclar...te_an_essay.htm

The word 'diktat' is German and is what the Germans in 1919 (and after) said the Treaty of Versailles was for them. They meant that the terms were 'dictated' to them since they had no representatives at the Paris Peace Talks and were threatened with invasion if they did not accept the treaty's terms.

This caused very real anger and resentment in Germany and is one of the main reasons that many Germans did not support the politicians (Social Democrats) who had - eventually - agreed to the Treaty.

I hope this helps?
