It's similar, Monisha, but IS different in some key ways, so you need to know how.

It's run by the Cambridge Board, so if you want to find out about the exam you need to go to their History page, and there you will be able to click on the syllabus you will be examined on, and also specimen questions and markschemes.

They cannot ask you a question on content outside that specified in the specification.
They will, however, expect you to understand those events - which may involve you knowing about events outside the strict limits of the specified content.
For instance, the specification may require you to know about 'the alliances in 1914', but you may need to know how those alliances came about.
So the specification is set, but try to know about the causes, facts and consequences of the events specified.

At the end of the day, remember they only require you to know as much as a 16-year-old can be expected to know - which is alarmingly little, actually!

My revision notes are an example of the absolute maximum you need to know.

That document certainly seems a very full and detailed examination of the subject - is it not TOO difficult for you?

My guess would be - looking at past papers - that if you understand that document, and can remember the salient points, that you will have no trouble with the questions, which are mainly sourcework questions based upon a set of sources given you in the exam.

I have half a suspicion that, if you know all that, you might be tempted to go into huge factual detail to share the huge amount of stuff you know on the topic.
That would be a bad thing.
Remember that the questions will be set on the sources, and you will be expected to use your own knowledge only to inform and back up your answers.
So make sure you answer the questions set.

I would start (as I always do) with the HistoryLearning site.
That will give you the basics.
Then I'd just google
Spanish Civil War
and cruise the links to detail up my knowledge.

In a 'Sources' paper it much better that you have a good general overview knowledge than that you know about bits in detail.

bbc bitesize is a bit shallow if you want and A or A*.
My revision notes are an example of the absolute maximum you need to know.
