Hiya i was just wondering today i did my SQA exam for history, it went quite well. I wanted to ask there was a question like "In what ways did railways cause trouble for people". In that sort of question can you give good point about the railways aswell, i was a little puzzled i know it does not say but i thought you could and i did. I gave two bad point and 2 good points as i could not think of any more bad points. Can you tell me if thats right. Thanks

I'm sure it will be fine.
Sounds quite a good answer to me.

Hi,

The question was "in what ways did some people suffer as a result of the development of the railways". Sorry to tell you but no, positive aspects to the railways will not get any marks. If the question had stated "<b>to what extent</b> did the railways ... etc" then good and bad points would be accepted, but not here. Actually quite a tough question as simple objections to the railways would also not be credited. Even if you only put down two things - you've still passed the question :)

Probably true, but I decided it was a bit tactless to say so on the day of the exam
There are times when people don't WANT to hear the truth.
As you say, it did not LOSE any marks.

But you are right to set the record straight for future readers of this thread.
