I would like to know how much does Germany has to pay in reparations to the Allies due to war damage. In my history textbook it says its £6600 Million but in Bitesize it says £6600 Billion..
Which of these is correct, I just want to know as this is a very important fact to include in my answer.

Thanks.

Bitesize does NOT say £6600 billion - or at least if it does I'd like you to tell me where so I can contact the BBC and get them to change it. Bitesize England gives the figure as the Germans received it: 132 billion gold marks. (And Bitesize Scoland gives it as £6.6 billion).

Translated into terms of English currency (the £), that equated to £6,600 million (or £6.6 billion - in Britain, a 'billion' is a thousand million).

It is a common schoolboy howler to say that reparations were £6,600 billion - it is utterly incorrect.
I have found a number of places on the web I have been able to find where this mistake has been made, including:
- an American school blogspot: jhyer.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
- an Indian school history textbook
- one of those cheat essays you can buy
- and a jolly online test set up by a student.
These are ALL wrong, wrong, wrong
It just goes show; you can't believe what you read on the web.
