One of the questions asked about persecution of the Jews from 1933 - 39.

I vaguely mentioned the fact that Jews had to have a red STAR in their passports as an example of persecution. But when I got home and looked it up, I realized that it was in actual fact, a red 'J'.

Would the examiners penalize me for this?

This wil do you no harm at all.
The examiners will not penalise you for anything you 'get wrong' - they just don't give you any marks for it.

Examiners are looking for much more than facts when they mark - they're judging your general approach, the depth of your explanation. You may also get credit because you've tried to back up your explanation with a fact

All you've done is muddle up the yellow star and the red J.
At best, the examiners won't know/notice and you may even get a mark for it.
At worst, he just won't award a mark for that fact.

I wouldn't worry AT ALL about it.
It will make no difference.
Enjoy yourself, and wait for the results.
