I haven't a clue.

Is it simply that your teacher wants you to look at YOUR history, and split it down into its component parts - a time as a baby, a time as a toddler, Primary School, Secondary School, holiday-times etc.?

Or maybe he wants you to look at the things that have CAUSED your history -- the influences that have led you to turn out as you have?

Or does he want you to think about the units by which we measure time -- years, seasons, terms, assignments etc.

Best bet to phone someone else in your class and see what they think.

Is there any way you can ask your teacher, therefore, to explain a little more what he wants?

Is the topic exactly what the teacher gave to you word for word?

If it is than i think he/she is trying to motivate you into thinking as a historian, diving periods of time according to important events. But these are more personal and should have emotional actions.

Maybe she wants you to write an essay on why historians divide time, how they do it, giving various examples and cases?

Sorry that's my best guess, good luck.
