Please can someone give me some ideas for topics for my project on conditions on the western front in ww1. I already have:

What it was like to go 'over the top'
Day to day life in the trenches
Morale (How troops kept their spirits up)
          Medical Support

Any other ideas with links to websites would be greatly appreciated!!

          Thanks :D

Some good ideas here, including such things as 'morale' which was very important. Other ideas might include the weapons used and what tactics were empoyed i.e. methods used in the fighting. These changed over time so it might be worth having a look at one of the earlier battles e.g Loos, then perhaps how things changed during the Somme and then contrasting this with the successful German 'March Offensive' of 1918 or other Allied victories of the same year, e.g. Amiens.

As to websites, I would do a forum search on 'trenches' or 'World War I' or the 'Western Front' which will give you lots of leads, perhaps starting with some of the newer threads as the links are less likely to be broken.

Having done all this, if you then find that certain things can't be found or you don't understand them, then we will be happy to help.

Good luck and remember that although some things remained the same on the Western Front, ever-present fear and danger of death for example, in other ways things did change and develop e.g new weapons, changes in tactics.
