I am stuggling to start my coursework essay and the topic is 'why did the british government decide to evacuate the children from Britain's major cities in the second world war'. If anyone could give me help and advice on how i should introduce my topic that would be much appreciated

We don't normally help students with coursework - coursework that is for an exam, that is.
It is unfair to other students,. and you can be accused of cheating.

All I can do is to say that this is a simple causation essay.
It will be answered by you finding a number of causes/reasons, and for each you have to PEE (put a point, cite evidence, and explain why that caused evacuation).

The best way to start is launching straight in: 'The first cause was...'

To help you, can I recommend this webpage, especially if you also follow the links, especially this link.
