You also need help to ask questions politely.

However, if you want to find out about William of Normandy I suggest using this site: http://www.historyle...co.uk/will1.htm

If this isn't what you are looking for, do ask again.

You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion, but the original poster just said, "I need help on ........" Not a sign of a "Please" and little indication of what sort of help or information was needed.

Thank you offering useful help to the original poster. The site you recommend was written by Mr Field. :D

I wonder whether some of the people who post questions on the Forum actually realise that "Please" and "Thank you" would be very much appreciated by the busy teachers who answer questions here in their own time.

I need help on this two question ...

1)What reasons did William of Normandy have to be upset by Harold's accession to the English throne?

2) What justification did William have for contesting the English throne in 1066?

If you work your way through http://www.allabout1066.net you will be able to find the answers to both of these questions.

http://www.eyewitnes....com/bayeux.htm covers the reasons for the invasion, including the Norman claim. It is a little more difficult to understand than the Norman Conquest site though.

http://www.spartacus...MEDnormanIN.htm also provides you with the information you need to answer these questions.

Please can you help on these questions:

1) What was the city that the first battle of 1066 was near?

2) What was the name of the hill that the battle of Hastings took place on?

Thanks

glad to help

as well as the sites already recommended you can find information elsewhere;

1] the first battle of 1066 became known as the battle of stamford bridge, it was in the north of england. exact details and where it was near can be found here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk...stings_02.shtml

2] you are right that the battle was fought on a hill. for a really good and detailed acoount of the battle and the hill and ridge it was fought on try this page:

Welcome to the Forum

If you are going to understand why William won the Battle of Hastings you will need to think about the advantages he had compared to Harold and also about the tactics he used during the battle.

Several of the links given earlier in this thread will be helpful to you especially these:
http://www.historyle...co.uk/will1.htm

http://www.allabout1066.net
(You will need to work your way through this site to get to the battle itself, but be patient because the 'background' information is useful)
