Hi
i have my first history exam in a couple of weeks and i was wondering becuase when we did our mocks our teacher said we would have to learn differnet parts of it e.g. on paper 2 you get to chose which russia and america question you do, she mentioned it would be something like early russia and late america or late russia and early america.

im sorry this is not very clear sad.gif please can someone help if possible

thankyou!!! beth

Your teach is correct, Bethany.

I presume you are doing AQA???
If you are not, stop reading!!!

If you are doing AQA, your Paper 2 will indeed be on America and Russia (if that is the two countries you have studied - they are the two countries my own pupils study).

You will have to answer two questions, one from Section A, the other from Section B.
America and Russia will appear in BOTH sections.
But if you answer the Section A question on Russia, you MUST do the Section B question on America.

USUALLY (in the past - but remember that doesn't mean it's DEFINITELY going to be the same this year), the examiners try not to overlap the questions.
SO, if the Section A question on Russia is on Russia 1917-1924 (The Revolution up to the NEP), they will make the Section B question on Stalin.
Similarly, they tend to split America into the 1919-1929, and 1929-1939.

IF they do the same again this year, you can revise Stalin REALLY well, knowing that there is going to be a question on him; I always tell my pupils to learn Stalin 110%! Unless the examiners do a real turnaround, you can expect to find him in Section A or Section B.
But remember, you cannot guarantee which question on America will come up in the other section, so you will need to learn ALL America.

As always, it makes sense simply to learn everything on the syllabus, and to be ready for anything.

If this doesn;t explain it well wnough, get back to us and I will try again.

hi...done paper 2 now biggrin.gif it was great *eeep* i was very lucky in that the night before i made myself learn 2 essays which happened to be the 15 markers on the options i chose...
anyway now im stuck on paper 3. it seems most other schools do this as coursework, but not our's so im having some difficulty finding anything on it. i have studdied women in the 20th century and vietnam. i have notes off bbc bitesize for vietnam but i cant find anything on women and we dont get textbooks for this excl.gif
thankyou for your help (again!)
beth.

For Vietnam, there is little beyond the Bitesize that I am aware of -- http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/gcselinks/b...ld/vietnam.html is more for people studying it for the first time than for people revising.
For women, use: http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/women%201900_1945.htm
